RADNOR LAKE STATE NATURE AREA

I spent some time recently at a beautiful little area at Radnor Lake. The Radnor Lake State Nature Area is a wonderful park with an abundance of wildlife, trails, flowers, and friendly people. It is located in what is considered the traditional borders of the city of Nashville. The trails range from Easy to Difficult although none of the trails are longer than 1.5 miles.

GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

I love the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP)! It is one of my favorite places to vacation. It contains some very amazing vistas and thousands of miles of trails, including over 70 miles of the Appalachian Trail.

 At the western foot of the GSMNP is located the city of Gatlinburg. It is a regular tourist town good for "people watching." Although the traffic is bad through the narrow streets, the stand is not that long and very easy to walk.

Paducah is a city in far western Kentucky located at the junction of the Ohio River and Tennessee River. It is also within 30 miles of the Cumberland River and 50 miles of the Mississippi. The city's riverfront is on the Ohio River.

The flood wall was built after the 1937 Flood that destroyed many cities up and down the Ohio. All of the city and much of the surrounding area was under water. In an effort to attacked more people, the Floodwall area has been given a facelift. This includes the murals painted by Robert Dafford. They depict scenes for Paducah's history.  In total, there are 45 paintings. The flood wall is about 12 miles long of which 3 miles is made of concrete. It extends around the city's shores with the Tennessee and Ohio Rivers. 

Paducah has also encouraged several other building and restoration projects in the area. These include:

• The Seaman's Center, a mixture of river history museum and tugboat/barge crew education center.
• The Museum of the American Quilter's Society
• and The Luther F Carson Four Rivers Center.

My neighbor was washing his classic car. When I saw it, I just had to run out and take some pictures. I am not a very knowledgeable person when it comes to car. For me, a car is a way to get from point A to point B. Nevertheless, I do admire the work it takes to restore one of those old models.
